louisa-and-them

Brussels born Liesa Van der Aa started playing the violin at the age of 5. The purchase of loop station and various effect pedals helped her creating an interesting and unheard of sound. Using solely voice and violin, she experiments with, creates and adapts her own compositions live. Later on she decided an accompanying band would add the right energy to her songs and she went looking for appropriate musicians. She found Dries Gijsels ready to produce any sound imaginable on guitar, Tijs Delbeke to shape the songs on piano (and virtually any other instrument), and Thomas Baeckens and Maarten Verresen to tighten up the grooves on bass and drums. All members have played with various musicians and in different collectives (PJDS, Ellen Schoenaerts Kwartet, dEUS, Duke Ferdinant, Guy Cassiers, Olympique Dramatique, SOPHA, Het Zesde Metaal, Kawada, …)

The band’s first demo was recorded by Geert Vanbever and Pieter-Jan De Smet and mixed by Joris Verniest and Stoffel Verlackt.
